Who We Are
The United States Goodwill Tang Soo Do Association was established in the year 2000 by David L. Sgro, Kwan Jang (San Kil Tang Soo Do) and Steven J. Voelker, Kwan Jang (Pyong Hwa Kunin Tang Soo Do). The USGTSDA is not a political organization, but rather an event driven Association. Tang Soo Do schools are encouranged to participate in the USGTSDA events and still maintain membership in their respective Association; in fact, all members of the USGTSDA are members of their respective Associations! So, the USGTSDA is really an Association of Associations.
Purpose
The main purpose of the USGTSDA is to benefit the physical and mental health of its members of the United States through the development of Tang Soo Do by providing Clinics and Tournaments on a Regional, National and International level.
For this purpose, it continually develops the technical skill level of Competitors, Officials, Ring Coordinators, and Event Volunteers. In addition, it is responsible for setting guidelines, and for sanctioning National and Regional USGTSDA events.
On the international basis, the USGTSDA is a member of the IGTSDA and its sole representative here in the U.S. Through the USGTSDA, TEAM USA is selected and sent to participate in the IGTSDA International Championships, which promotes International Goodwill through Tang Soo Do.
Organization
The USGTSDA has schools and individual members nationwide. The USGTSDA is currently working on establishing Regional Directors to coordinate the activities within their region. If you are interested in participating as a Regional Director e-mail Kwan Jang Nim David L. Sgro. Currently there are nearly 30 Studios and over 3,000 members in the USGTSDA.
