As part of our National Event in Virginia Beach, students and instructors from various schools were crossed ranked by the United States Goodwill Tang Soo Do Association and the World Dang Soo Do Union. This is a great opportunity provided through a membership in the USGTSDA challenging students to test their courage and to demonstrate their skills to instructors from other school and states.

Students were required to demonstrate fundamental skills to the grading panel including: line drills, kicking, one-steps, self-defense, sparring skill, weapons, and traditional forms. Sitting on the Shim Sa (testing) panel were Mike Bogdanski, Kwan Jang of Quest Martial Arts and Steve Voelker, Kwan Jang of Pyung Hwa Kunin Tang Soo Do. Other Shim Sa panel members included: Bill Odom, SBN; Garth Charland, SBN; Nick Coffman, SBN; Kristin Duethorn, SBN and Tom Whitbread; SBN.
We are grateful to Master Bill Odom and his staff at Norfolk Karate Academy for hosting the event. A celebration dinner was held at a local Korean restaurant. Certificates were awarded during the National tournament on Saturday afternoon. Master Belsito of Catskill Martial Arts Academy and Master Strobel of Tribury Karate and fitness were also awarded Studio Certificates on Saturday.
